Lacy Hall Student Housing Renovation

Lacy Hall was the second of the 9 Corps of Cadets dormitories to be renovated and modernized by Texas A&M University and the second of three renovated by Smith & Company. Sitting in the historic quad at the center of the College Station campus these 220 beds 34,700 SQFT dormitories renovations included, a complete four story gut and renovation of the interior providing new dorm rooms, shower/restrooms, and corridors, as well as the addition of a four story stair tower with two study rooms and an office, all of which connecting to the neighboring building, Buzbee LLC.

The MEP team designed new air conditioning systems serving each room, utilizing the existing campus hot and chilled water central plants and new secondary pumps. They designed a new exhaust riser, new sprinkler riser and entry room, and updated the existing electrical boards and panels throughout. They also upgraded the lighting to meet current energy standards, and providing new receptacle and fire alarm devices for all spaces.

Smith & Company Architects also served as design architect for the new Leadership Learning Center (LLC) which was connected to Harrell Hall and Lacy Hall. The LLC project is a new four story 17,877-square-foot multipurpose learning center addition provided as a “Student Center” for cadets.
