Houston Community College’s growth over the last five years has caused its main central administrative building at 3100 Main in downtown Houston to require additional areas. The existing Student Services departments, previously located on the 7th floor, was relocated to the first floor of the adjacent parking garage structure directly across the street from the administration building. This new 25,000 SF space, previously for parking, was rebuilt to house several functions including the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department for International Students, HCC Police Department, Administration Offices, and meeting rooms. The existing space was previously unconditioned and not designed for occupancy. The new space received insulated windows, insulation, a new slab foundation, and waterproofing on the 2nd floor deck above. The interiors were designed with high-end finishes and office furniture to make an impression on first time visitors to the college.
