Port Arthur Independent School District
Franklin Elementary School
Completed: June 2005
Size: 106,600 sq ft
Scope:
Built in 1917, Franklin Elementary School is one of the oldest facilities in the school district. The 106,000 square foot, three level building gained additions in 1968 and 1974. Most of the $2.5 million budget will be spent upgrading the building’s life safety related components including a new fire alarm and a new sprinkler system. A complete new fiber technology system will be installed, separating it from the existing electrical system that will be upgraded. A completely new 4-pipe HVAC system will be added.
Architecturally, the school will get new windows and exterior doors throughout the campus. Exterior walls will be repaired and resealed to prevent water intrusion.
