Scope:

Smith & Company Architects, in association with Walter P Moore Engineers, recently completed designs for this new five level 472 space parking garage for the city of Ft. Pierce, Florida. Located adjacent to the existing city hall on an existing surface parking lot, the building connects directly with a new 23,000 SF office/retail tower, also designed by Smith & Company. The cast-in-place garage utilizes precast concrete panels on the exterior that will be surfaced with stucco to emulate the medirtanean style reminiscent of historical structures in the city.

The project, which began last spring and was expected to cost $11.3 million, is due to come in at $12 million due to some modifying and additions, including a second elevator. The building will have 465 parking spaces, about 24,000 square feet of office space and 6,000 square feet of retail.

All parking will be free and no spaces will be reserved for city employees, Beach said.

Office space was designed with future expansion needs for city staff in mind, Beach said, but once it is completed, the city plans to lease it until it's needed. They have yet to begin the process of looking for tenants for the space.
