Allee J. Mitchell Center on the Family
Completed: June 2003
Size: 7,000 sq ft
Scope: The 7,000 SF Allee J. Mitchell building on the campus of TSU was originally built in the early 1960’s as the school’s cafeteria building. The building’s first major renovation, in 1994, changed its use for the Center on the Family program, changing it into a childcare center and research center for the development of young children. This current renovation further upgrades the building by changing all floor and ceiling finishes, replacing windows, replacing ductwork, and adding a new staff lounge and outdoor play area. Renovations are also planned for existing offices, computer rooms, and work areas.
In addition to the aesthetic upgrades, a monitoring system will be added to the day care rooms to have real time monitoring of the children from the director’s office.
