Texas A&M University Holds Grand Opening for the New Buzbee Leadership Learning Center & Harrell Hall Corps Dorm.
The Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets held a ceremonial grand opening for the new 17,900 SF Leadership Learning Center on the College Station Campus. Among the esteemed guests were our own Governor Rick Perry (a former Corps Cadet himself), Texas A&M Vice President of Student Affairs Lt. Gen. Joe Weber, Board of Regents Chairman Richard Box and Tony Buzbee and family. Tony Buzbee donated funds toward the completion of the LLC and is a Corps alumnus and successful Houston attorney. Smith & Company, in a team effort with Elkus Manfredi (Associate Architect) along with Construction Manager Vaughn Construction, worked under an accelerated schedule to complete the project within seven months, to accommodate the start of the fall semester.
Prairie View A&M Plans New Student Recreation Center.
Smith & Company Architects is working with the Dallas office of the architecture firm Moody Nolen on a new 90,000 SF two level student recreation center. The new facility will be physically attached to the north end of the Nicks Arena (Baby Dome) and will form a new formal entry into the planned Sports Complex. When completed the Recreation Center will contain a new state-of-the-art fitness center, a three court gymnasium, multipurpose rooms, administrative offices, locker/shower rooms, an indoor track, game/multimedia room, and student lounge areas. Construction for this is expected to start in June 2013 with completion in time for the Spring 2015 semester.
